The build

In order,
with the
mistakes

Dates go on each chapter as it publishes. Where a render turned out wrong, the chapter says so rather than quietly replacing the image.

Chapter 01

The shell

Started with a straight-enough short bed and stripped it to the shell. Every panel came off so the chassis work could happen without fighting the body. The floor was better than expected. The cab corners were not, and that set the first three weeks of the schedule.

Parts used in this chapter

  • Cab shell
  • Floor patch panels
Chapter 02

Chassis and stance

Tubular front end in, coilovers front and rear. The target was wheels inside the fender line with the truck sitting down, not a bagged truck that only looks right parked. Ride height got set three times before it was right.

Parts used in this chapter

  • Tubular front end
  • Coilovers
Chapter 03

Widebody and tubs

The rear tubs are hand-formed, not a bolt-on kit. That decision cost weeks and it is the reason the truck does not read as a catalogue build. Getting the tub line to follow the bed line took more time than the metalwork itself.

Chapter 04

Engine and EFI

Holley EFI with a 105mm throttle body, orange block, fabricated polished valve covers made in-house. Single alternator, standard accessory drive. The EFI went on for the tuning support, not the badge on the intake.

Parts used in this chapter

  • Holley EFI
  • Fabricated valve covers
Chapter 05

Interior and cage

Cage bolted through the floor and tied into the chassis. Black fixed-back race seats. The interior is deliberately spare — this is not a truck that is getting a stereo.

Chapter 06

Paint and final colour

Satin charcoal. Not matte black, which is the thing everyone gets wrong when they describe it. Satin holds a highlight along the body line where matte kills it, and on a truck this wide that highlight is doing most of the work.

Still going. Chapters publish as the work happens. The final drive chapter does not exist yet because the truck has not driven yet.
